Hello from Eurogamer's new editor-in-chief (2026)

Hello, dear readers! I'm thrilled to introduce myself as Eurogamer's newest editor-in-chief. It's an honor to take on this role, a dream I've held for years, ever since my first interview with Oli Welsh and Matt Reynolds. Our humble beginnings were in a small, eclectic office, where we had a sofa, a video room, a games room, and a podcast studio. It was a tight space, but it fostered a unique community and a spirit of collaboration that has defined Eurogamer's identity.

Over the past decade, Eurogamer has undergone significant transformations. We've welcomed new owners, editors, and directors, and many of our original team members have moved on, making way for fresh talent. Despite these changes, the core values and passion that defined Eurogamer's early days remain intact. I'm excited to build upon the work of my predecessors, including Dom Peppiatt, Connor Makar, Victoria Phillips-Kennedy, and Matt Wales, who bring their unique skills and perspectives to the table.

One of my key priorities is to maintain Eurogamer's plurality, ensuring that every section of the site contributes to its magic. Our news should be comprehensive, authoritative, and driven by original reporting. Our reviews should be insightful, entertaining, and a catalyst for meaningful conversations. Our guides should be the most trusted and comprehensive resources in the industry, and our features should be expansive, storytelling masterpieces.

I believe in the power of Eurogamer to connect with its readers on a deeper level. I love the site's quirks, in-jokes, and the way it effortlessly transitions from serious to silly. I want to encourage more contributions to 'What We've Been Playing' and ensure that Eurogamer remains a platform where no one can definitively define what it is. Instead, it's about the personal connection each reader has with the site.

However, I understand that maintaining these high standards is challenging. The industry is evolving rapidly, and we must navigate the pressures of daily news and the constant need for original content. We will make mistakes, and we will face challenges, but my commitment is to strive for excellence every day. I will work tirelessly to uphold the industry-leading standards set by my predecessors and ensure that Eurogamer continues to be the best video games website.

Thank you to our loyal readers for your support and engagement. We appreciate your dedication and look forward to delivering exceptional content that celebrates the world of video games.
